Here's some info on the film itself...

The Perfect Day film was directed by Peter Webber, successful director of Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003) starring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth, which received three Academy Award Nominations, two Golden Globe Nominations, and ten BAFTA Award Nominations. After this promising feature film debut Peter Webber went on to direct Hannibal Rising (2007), he has also directed an episode of the ground breaking US series 'Six Feet Under'. Webber was particularly interested in this project because of family connections in Stornoway, on the nearby Isle of Lewis.

'I was very excited by the opportunity to make a film in the Outer Hebrides. My mother's family (she's a Macleod) come from North Tolsta and many of them still live there. My uncle was a Scottish trawlerman. I spent all of my childhood summers on the Isle of Lewis in my grandmother's croft. So on a personal level, it was a delight to film in the region.'

The plane landing on the beach was filmed at Traigh Mhor on Barra, the only place in the world where scheduled flights land on the beach. British Airways flights, operated by Loganair, go between Barra, Glasgow and Benbecula, another island in the Outer Hebrides.  Go to ba.com or loganair.co.uk

The couple are seen sea kayaking around Vatersay, an island by Barra. The main location was Eorasdail in the south east. Clearwater Paddling led the trip, they offer sea kayak adventures here and elsewhere in Scotland.  Go to clearwaterpaddling.com

As they explore, the couple drive across the causeway which now links Barra with the nearby island of Vatersay.
Bhreibhig Jetty on Barra is the place where the couple are seen buying fresh fish from some fishermen.

The large beach facing east in Bhatarsaigh Bay (Vatersay Bay) was the location for the scene where the couple are running on the beach.

The couple are seen walking by a derelict uninhabited croft on Vatersay. This cottage is actually about 500 metres from the location of the white cottage seen at the end of the film.

The white cottage at the end of the advert where the couple are seen by a camp fire was Taigh Sanna (Sanna House) near Eilean Caragraich on Vatersay.
