Angus & Fife Coastal Route Fife, Dundee and Angus Follow the coastal route through some of Scotland's most attractive landscapes. Experience Scotland's rich historic heritage by journeying over famous bridges, through historic towns and fishing villages, all retaining their original character, past sandy beaches and world class golf courses. Start in Culross (1), head along the B9037 and join the A994 to explore the 13th century Dunfermline Abbey & Palace (2). Follow the A823, joining the M90 and turn east onto the A921 to Aberdour (3), with its 14th century castle. Follow the coastal route along the A921 to Kirkcaldy (4), its many attractions and major shopping centre. Follow the A955 until it joins the A915 at Leven then take the A917 to the picturesque harbour village of Crail (5). Continue along the A917, leaving the coastal trail, to investigate Scotland's Secret Bunker (6) on the B940. Rejoin the A917 heading north to visit St Andrews (7). Take the A91 west, turning onto the A919 and joining the A914, then the A92 to cross the Tay Road Bridge into Dundee (8), home to RRS Discovery. Four miles to the east on the A930 is the seaside town of Broughty Ferry (9) and its estuary fort. Head north on the A92, passing Carnoustie, home to the famous Championship Golf Course, to Arbroath Abbey, Harbour & Signal Tower Museum (10). En route to Montrose on the A92, stop at Lunan Bay (11), continue north and visit the Montrose Basin Visitor Centre (12) on the A934. Return through Montrose and take the A935 following signs for the splendid House of Dun (13). Enjoy more coastal touring by following the coastal route signs up to Aberdeen where you'll find tiny villages, picturesque harbours and unspoilt beaches in the company of wildlife from dolphins to seals and seabirds.
