Hosting Scotland's largest concentration of food and drink producers you'll not struggle to feast yourself on the offerings of our region. The Mackie family have been farming in Aberdeenshire for four generations so don't forget to sample some of their fantastic ice cream!

In Aberdeen City itself visit the Aberdeen Farmers Market on the last weekend of every month and sample quality, fresh produce straight from the farm. If you can hit one of the regular International Markets you'll find yourself immersed in a bustling, continental atmosphere than brings the city centre alive with the smell of European food and the opportunity to sample delicious foods from both Scotland and abroad.

A visit to the region would not be complete without a dram of whisky or a taste of shortbread. Home to a number of distilleries such as GlenDronach and Glen Garioch and the gateway to the Malt Whisky Trail this is the perfect place to find out more about the traditional methods of whisky making. Visit Royal Lochnagar, set close to Balmoral Castle, which is a charming location to learn about the traditions and craftsmanship of the distillery.

A visit to Deans of Huntly offers a great insight into the production of shortbread, with a visitor centre and glass viewing gallery over the bakery, not to mention a great café to sample the melt in your mouth shortbread.
