Discover a little luxury on Islay

Discover a little luxury on Islay

Islay is the southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides, and has many hidden treasures for you to indulge in. From its world class whisky and famous distilleries, rich history and heritage to its golden beaches, there's lots to enjoy on Islay.

A stunning location for almost any outdoor pursuit, Islay is particularly good for golf. If you're looking for a new hobby why not try a round at the Machrie golf links, where you can learn the game as you enjoy the natural setting and spectacular scenery.

The island is home to eight distilleries, all producing world class whisky with an unforgettable peaty taste. From Bowmore to Ardbeg, each distillery offers something special for their visitors, from bespoke tours to products only stocked in the distillery shop. Enjoy a nip of the heady offering on one of Islay's golden beaches where the scenery is as intoxicating as the whisky.

If exploring the heritage is more your thing, then take a trip to The Round Church in Bowmore, one of only two round churches in Scotland, built in 1767. Or explore the island's history with a visit to the cluster of Standing Stones on the coast of Port Ellen, dating back as far as 2000BC.

Alternatively you can go wildlife spotting and try to catch a glimpse of one of the 200 different species of birds inhabiting the island, or take a swim in the warm clear waters of Loch Gruinart, and end your Perfect Day in Islay with a stroll along the white sandy beaches of Tayvulin.
