Spend a day by the seaside

Spend a day by the seaside

Just one hour east of Scotland's bustling capital, you'll find the town of North Berwick. This quaint seaside town, with its own small harbour, is found on the shores of the Firth of Forth and is home to great beaches and coastal scenery. From here you can see the sights of Yellowcraig beach and Fidra Island, as well as the amazing volcanic island of Bass Rock.

The award winning Scottish Seabird Centre is located in North Berwick and has something for everyone. With amazing state of the art cameras you can zoom in close to the puffins, guillemots, gannets, kittiwakes, eider ducks and marine wildlife. Alternatively, you could take a boat trip around Bass Rock - which is home to over 100,000 gannets which come to breed there each year.

Just a few miles west of North Berwick is Yellowcraig beach, a long sandy beach which is the perfect day out for you and your family. Take a stroll along its sandy cove to see great views over the Firth of Forth to Fife and the lighthouse on Fidra Island. Alternatively, walk the footpaths of the nature trail which has sheltered woodlands and grassland.

Finish off your Perfect Day in North Berwick with a trip Tantallon Castle, the last truly great castle built in Scotland. The stronghold of the Douglas family, these castle grounds can now be explored by all the family.
