Experience sights, smells and sounds

The very makeup of Moray lends itself to some of the most stunningly beautiful walking in the country. Coastal paths and high land tracks offer such a variety of choice so we've selected some of the best so you can make the most of your perfect day.

The Speyside Way stretches 65 miles from Aviemore, through the heart of malt whisky country, to Buckie on the Moray coast. Following the course of the River Spey for most of its way, walkers will enjoy the leisurely pace that allows them to soak up the ever changing vistas on their way to the coast.

Hugging the cliffs and skirting the beaches, the Moray Coastal Trail links the towns of Forres and Cullen with 50 miles of way-marked trail. Its incredible landscapes include rugged cliffs and sheltered fishing harbours with great swathes of golden sands. One of the highlights is sure to be the incredible Bow Fiddle Rock which has been shaped by the action of the waves to create a rock arch standing over 50ft high.

Away from the sea and slightly more strenuous, there are many hill walks available. Ben Rinnes is one such hill and at a height of 841m is classified as a Corbett (group of hills smaller than Munros) and is accessible from many sides. The panoramic views from the top can reach as far as Caithness in the far north east of Scotland. Reward yourself on your return by visiting one of the nearby distilleries.
