Indulge in the Malt Whisky Trail

Indulge in the Malt Whisky Trail

Speyside is perhaps best known for its Malt Whisky Trail. The trail comprises seven working distilleries, one historic distillery and the fantastic Speyside Cooperage. Each one of the distilleries has an excellent visitor centres where you can see behind the scenes and learn more about the heritage and process of making Speyside whisky. There is also a visitor centre at the Speyside Cooperage where you can experience the ancient art of coopering, the making of whisky casks using traditional methods and tools. You can even have a go at making your own mini-cask if you're up to the challenge! Follow the trail signposts as they lead you through the picturesque malt whisky region.

Sitting on the banks of the River Lossie, Glen Moray distillery has been welcoming visitors since its opening in 1897. Since then much has changed although the distilling process and ingredients remain the same. Pre-book for their Fifth Chapter Tours and follow an informal tutored tasting across the last five decades with distillery manager Graham Coull.

They say there's a malt for everyone and located within the Craigellachie Hotel, the Quaich Bar is every whisky lover's dream. With over 700 different single malts on offer; this is one of the largest selections of drinking malts in the world. The walls are adorned with bottles of Uisghe Beatha (the water of life), each one waiting to pass your lips. Feast your eyes on this amazing sight, make your selection and enjoy.
