Scotland's sailing schools - and there are more than twenty-five of them - are located all around the country, offering a wide range of tuition opportunities including windsurfing, dinghy sailing, cruiser racing, cruising and power boating.
All levels of RYA qualification are on offer. However, as well as the selection of courses available, there is marvellous variety in locations, types of vessels and tuition styles. What could be more pleasant than to learn your boating techniques in Scotland's incomparable environment.
Located on the Isle of Cumbrae, sportscotland's National Centre is Scotland's premier watersports centre and instructor training facility. With easy access to the open sea, the centre is surrounded by safe waters and has facilities to cope with enthusiasts of all levels. There is also excellent shore-based accommodation and catering facilities.
The centre offers training courses in dinghy sailing, power-boating, kayaking, windsurfing and cruising. There are also programmes designed specifically for juniors and youths plus instructor training and professional yachtmaster training. If you're looking for something different, the centre can also run tailored courses to meet specific requirements, dates, group sizes etc.
There are many centres and schools throughout Scotland which offer the chance to learn, improve or increase your sailing skills. With weekend, week-day, group and individual sessions, the choice is fantastic and you'll be surprised how affordable it can be.
