Discover the Fife Coastal Path

Discover the Fife Coastal Path

The imposing Fife Coastal Path stretches for 150km from the Royal Burgh of Culross in the west, to the Tay Bridge, by Dundee, further north and east. Along the way it weaves in and out of pretty harbour villages and meanders by historic buildings dating back to the 12th century.

The Kingdom of Fife, once one of the Pictish Kingdoms, is an historic part of Scotland and along the longer route you'll uncover reminders of Scotland's proud heritage including pre-historic caves at East Wemyss, the Palaces of Culross and Falkland, Ravenscraig, Kellie, Aberdour and St Andrews Castles, religious places of interest including Dunfermline Abbey, St Andrews Cathedral and St Rules' Tower and more unusual attractions such as St Monans Windmill and the Secret Bunker.

This part of Scotland and more especially the north-east coast of Fife, commonly known as the East Neuk, with its chain of fishing villages, was also famous for its historic trading links with the Benelux or Low Countries on the opposite side of the North Sea.

This walking route, takes in a shorter part of the Fife Coastal Path running from Lower Largo to historic St Andrews. The route has been split into three days in order to combine a relaxing pace with ample time to explore sites of interest along the way.
