Enjoy a gentle walk on Skye

Enjoy a gentle walk on Skye

This mainly low level route from Sligachan to Loch Coruisk on the Isle of Skye takes you into the heart of the Cuillin, one of the UK's most dramatic and enduring landscapes.

You'll need a good level of fitness for this challenging but rewarding trek through the Cuillin Hills, walking from Sligachan to Loch Coruisk. Find yourself greeted by magnificent views of the beautiful island of Skye; following the River Sligachan at first, passing between the impressive peaks of Marsco and the Munro of Sgurr nan Gillean, taking in views of Loch Coruisk and, as long as the weather is clear, out to Loch Scavaig.

As you head down towards Loch Coruisk and complete the route at the stepping stones over the River Scavaig. Stop here for a while and admire the magnificent loch surrounded by towering Cuillin mountains - a very dramatic conclusion to the outward leg of this walk.

For your return, retrace your steps back through Glen Sligachan and take in some more fantastic views of the island.

This natural backdrop provides some wonderful culinary experiences too. Reward yourself with a visit to the famous Talisker Whisky Distillery, and dine at any one of the many award-winning restaurants, which serve up an array of freshly landed seafood and delicious meat and game.
